On Thursday, October 22, 2020, please join the Strauss Center as we host Evelyn Douek, lecturer on law and SJD candidate at Harvard Law School, and David Kaye, clinical professor of law and Director of the International Justice Clinic at the University of California, Irvine, for a virtual talk on “Free Speech Online in a Global Setting: Censorship and the Challenge of Private Control.”

The “public square” has given way to social media platforms as the most important pathway for ordinary people to engage in free speech. This comes with great benefits, including vastly-improved prospects for reaching wide audiences. But it comes with great risks, too, with novel forms and sources of censorship. Two of the nation’s leading experts join the Strauss Center at UT to explore the complexities
